Variations on
„Geh aus, mein Herz“

Variations on the summer song "Geh aus, mein Herz" op. 48 (1998)
for organ

In ten movements, Hans Uwe Hielscher succeeds in his well-established way of making the joyful chorale (text by Paul Gerhardt) extremely variable, both technically and tonally. The variations, often not covering more than one page, are of medium difficulty at most. The playful cycle also offers ample opportunity to demonstrate various tonal facets of an organ.

“In these ten variations on the well-known summer song, the composer unfolds August Harder's popular melody in a variety of ways. In each variation, Hielscher comes up with a characteristic idea, so that the entire partita appears like a series of character pieces. A colorful contribution that attracts the public, not just in summer!” [Ars Organi 1/2014]

"The variations are a mix of styles with echoes of baroque, romantic and moderate modernity. A very varied collection that shouldn't miss its effect. Numerous lighter variations can also be used as chorale preludes by part-time professionals." [Württembergische Blätter für Kirchenmusik 5/2014]

"The easy-to-learn and sonically appealing nine variations by the organnist and Guilmant expert Hielscher are effective pieces for liturgy and concerts." [Kirchenmusik im Archdiocese of Bamberg 12/2014]
