“I want to join the shepherds” is a Christmas carol from the Minden-Ravensberg Lutheran revival movement. It is primarily known in Westphalia and has been included in folk song books since its creation and in the regional sections of church hymn books since 1929. Pastor Emil Quandt wrote the text (1835-1911), the melody was composed by Pastor August Rische (1819-1906) in 1885.
